Amazon Expands in Brandenburg With One Clear Goal: Shorter Delivery Routes to Customers
Amazon is strengthening its logistics footprint in Brandenburg with two new parcel distribution centers set to open in 2026. The investment is part of a wider strategy aimed at shortening delivery routes, increasing network efficiency and meeting growing expectations around delivery speed in Germany’s highly competitive ecommerce market.
New facility near Cottbus to launch in September 2026
The first new center will begin operations in September 2026 near the A15 motorway outside Cottbus. According to Amazon, the facility will cover approximately 7,700 square meters and create around 70 permanent jobs.
The site will support deliveries across southern Brandenburg as well as selected areas of northern Saxony, helping Amazon move parcels closer to end customers before the final delivery stage.
A larger distribution hub is coming to Dahlewitz one month later
In October 2026, Amazon plans to open its second new facility in Dahlewitz near the Berlin border. This center will be significantly larger, with approximately 15,500 square meters of operational space.
Its location near Berlin gives Amazon stronger access to one of Germany’s busiest ecommerce regions while improving delivery capacity across surrounding areas.
These are not traditional warehouses
Both new locations will function as parcel distribution centers rather than classic storage warehouses. Instead of holding inventory for extended periods, these sites will receive parcels already moving through Amazon’s logistics network, sort them and transfer them to delivery vehicles.
This type of infrastructure helps reduce bottlenecks during peak shopping periods, promotional campaigns and seasonal order spikes.
Amazon is building on an already strong presence in Brandenburg
Amazon already operates three similar facilities in Brandenburg, located in Hoppegarten, Werder an der Havel and Schönefeld. According to company data, more than 1,000 people currently work across Amazon’s logistics operations in the region.
The new investments show that Brandenburg remains a strategic logistics corridor, especially for deliveries connected to Berlin and eastern Germany.
Why this matters for Polish cross-border sellers
For ecommerce businesses in Poland selling into Germany, Brandenburg is more than just a local German market. Its location directly on the Polish border makes it an important gateway for cross-border fulfillment.
Every reduction in delivery distance can improve shipping predictability, lower the risk of delays and support stronger customer satisfaction scores.
Delivery speed is becoming harder to ignore
German consumers increasingly treat fast delivery as a basic expectation rather than an added benefit. As Amazon increases the density of its last-mile network, sellers across the market face growing pressure to match those standards.
For businesses shipping directly from Poland without local fulfillment support, even a one-day difference in delivery time can impact conversion rates and purchasing decisions.
Amazon’s expansion goes beyond Brandenburg
The new projects in Cottbus and Dahlewitz are not isolated investments. Amazon is also expanding its delivery infrastructure in Ettenheim, Kassel and Salzgitter.
For the wider ecommerce market, the message is clear: delivery speed is becoming an even more important competitive factor, not only on Amazon but across Germany’s entire online retail ecosystem.
