easyGroup Enters Parcel Delivery Market with easyCourier
easyGroup, the company behind easyJet, has launched easyCourier by rebranding Cypriot logistics firm Svelta Courier. The move marks easyGroup’s entry into last-mile delivery and comes shortly after it unveiled a new online marketplace, signaling a broader push into European ecommerce.
Expanding Beyond easyJet
easyGroup owns the Easy family of brands and is best known for easyJet, the British low-cost airline. In recent months the company has been working to expand its portfolio, with a particular focus on breaking into European ecommerce. Earlier this month it announced the launch of easyShop, a new online marketplace.
A New Online Marketplace
easyShop runs on marketplace technology built by OnBuy. OnBuy operates its own marketplace across 21 European countries and also licenses its platform to other brands so they can launch marketplaces under their own name. easyShop will go live in those same 21 countries later this year and will function as a pure marketplace, meaning easyGroup itself won’t compete with the sellers on the platform. Brands and retailers can already register to take part.
Rebranding a Local Courier
easyGroup’s latest step is the launch of easyCourier in Cyprus, where it has taken over local courier company Svelta Courier and brought it under the easy brand name. Svelta will keep running day to day operations but now under the easyCourier name. The takeover allows the two companies to pair Svelta’s existing delivery network and technology with easyGroup’s international reach.
Same-day Delivery with Wider Ambitions
easyCourier offers same-day express delivery within Cyprus for urgent parcels, aimed at both ecommerce businesses and individual customers sending packages. easyGroup has plans to roll the courier service out across the rest of Europe over time. The company describes the service as a flexible range of courier options built to handle different logistical needs while keeping speed and security front and center.
