New Amazon FBA surcharge increases cost pressure for sellers
Amazon is introducing a new wave of logistics surcharges across Europe and North America. From April 17, 2026, sellers using Fulfillment by Amazon will pay an additional fuel and logistics fee on top of fulfillment costs. The rate is set at 3.5% in the US and Canada and 1.5% in Europe, including Poland.
This is not a minor pricing update
The surcharge is applied to fulfillment fees, not product prices, which means a fixed increase per unit shipped. Amazon estimates the impact at around $0.17 per item in the US and about €0.05 per unit in Europe, depending on product size and dimensions.
Scope expands beyond core FBA services
From May 2, 2026, the fee will also apply to Multi-Channel Fulfillment in key European markets and to services like Buy with Prime in North America. For sellers using Amazon as a multi-channel logistics backbone, this increases costs beyond marketplace sales.
Temporary fee or long term cost shift
Amazon says the surcharge is driven by fuel and logistics costs and presents it as temporary. Sellers remain cautious, as similar fees introduced in the past often stayed longer, turning into a permanent part of the cost structure.
